Only three on the picture, actually there are four of them in Houkka brothers - brother Frank, a voice artist Juha Valkeapää, brother J.J., theatre director Kristan Smeds, brother Sylvester, a visual and performance artist Tero Nauha and brother Arvo, a DJ and light and sound artist Pietu Pietiäinen. Three of them did their first public appearance in 2003 with a collective piece called Wanderer, based on Russian Orthodox spritual book. A year later Pietu joined the group for the second part of the trilogy, Children, birds and flowers. At the same time the group got its name Houkka Bros. Houkka means fool for Christ's sake in Finnish, and artistic concept was clarified as a bunch of middle - aged men who come together to play mah jong and create some religious theatre. The third part of this religious stage trilogy, Radio Doomsday, was premiered in 2008. It means that the trilogy is ready, and we are waiting for Houkka Bros.' funeral party.
