Mārtiņš Eihe (1975) is a gentle rebel of the Latvian theatre scene who persistantly is looking for his own way, moving between different theatres, outsider status and the leading position at a city theatre. A graduate of theatre directing at the Latvian Academy of Culture, Mārtiņš Eihe together with the dramaturge Krista Burāne has been the director of Valmiera theatre, founded the independent company Nomadi, produced thier first documnetary film The Fifth Hamlet and is currently the leading director of Liepāja theatre. His interest varies between the adaptation of classical theatre plays, experimental collaborative practise (project Freedom together with Kaja Kann (Tallinn) and Aigars Apinis), acting experience and exploration of different techniques (film, object theatre).
Since a year he works with 16 acting students of Liepāja theatre drama school and their collaboration is the contemporary youth drama Battle at...presented at Homo Novus 2009 programme.
